Can you spare some time for volunteering? Then why not join us on our Volunteer Recruitment Day on Sunday April 9, and find out more about the many opportunities available.
In 2017 the railway celebrates 50 years since the formation of the NYMR Preservation Society, forerunner of the current Charitable Trust (1967 – 2017). Today the railway is a not-for profit charitable organisation run as part of the local community. Day to day operation is carried out by volunteers who focus on improving the quality of the infrastructure, the railway vehicles and passenger experience. The NYMR is reliant upon volunteers and we need your help!
We invite you to join us as we work to continue our success for the next 50 years. We need volunteers with the vast multitude of skills now required to run a heritage railway in the current environment; including some you may have not even have thought of. Having no previous railway experience is not a barrier. If you have the aptitude, enthusiasm and commitment, we will help you achieve your ambition to become a Driver or Fireman, a Guard or Ticket Inspector, a Signalman, a Station Foreman or Booking Clerk; all the roles recognisably associated with trains and railways. In fact, we are certain whatever your talents, we can use them on the NYMR.
Interested? Want to find out more? Then come along and meet representatives from all the departments who will be ready to speak with you, answer your questions and guide you in the right direction. We will even ensure you get a cuppa, a smile and, if necessary, arrange for you to travel to a specific site to see things first hand. So what are you waiting for? Just fill out the form on our web site, so we can make sure everything is in place when you arrive. If you are not able to get to the Volunteer Day but would still like to learn more, further details on our volunteering page.
