Tesco’s site purchased by local vets

Grace Lane Veterinary Surgery, based on the Hutton-le-Hole road, have bought the site where the supermarket giant were going to set up a few years ago.

They are negotiating with potential partners to join them on the 1.6 acre site but it looks likely there will be some housing and a food outlet. The plan is that one construction company will undertake the entire build which should be completed within two years.

So houses and a food outlet – and a vets?

Yes but not a large scale supermarket as was previously planned for the site.

Trading in Kirkbys’ High Street is becoming increasingly difficult and putting a “food outlet” out of Town will ensure the earlier demise of those food outlets within the Towns market place. Perhaps it is an opportune moment to improve the Town Signs to include the many independent shops rather than focus on once a year events which have no interest to visitors?

If it wasn’t for visitors the yearly Christmas market wouldn’t be what it is. At least it will tidy that corner of the town up.

Tesco’s are supposed to be selling their ‘surplus’ Driffield sites. Some suggestion is it’s all a tax scheme.
