The imminent closure of the HSBC branch in Piercey End will mean that the number of cash machines in the town is reduced to one, at the Co-op store. The butchers, S. Waind & Sons, whose shop is immediately across the road from the HSBC, are therefore investigating the possibility of providing a replacement cash machine, and would welcome public reaction.
Because of space and the nature of the Conservation Area, the machine would have to be inside the shop, so would only be available during normal shop opening hours. Waind’s would have to pay rental on the machine, which they would pass on to customers in the form of a small service charge for each transaction. In the light of this, they are naturally keen to know how much support there would be for this plan.
If you would like to express your views on this, please pop into the shop and talk to one of the staff.
While this may not be the perfect solution, thanks are due to Waind’s for taking an active role in trying to maintain services in the town.
