The Kirkby Fruit Project recently celebrated another successful year of salvaging unwanted apples, and the onset of Christmas, with an outdoor party for volunteers, their friends and family, neighbours and supporters from across the town. Our own mulled cider and spiced apple cup kept out the night air, and proceedings were enlivened by a visit from the Town Brass Band who called in as they toured the streets playing carols.
The Band has previously had donations from the Project’s ‘good causes’ fund, and were happy to oblige with some festive music.
About 80 people attended, and contrary to gloomy forecasts, it didn’t rain and wasn’t cold. The fire pit helped!
New volunteers will be welcome next year, so if you’d like to join us, watch this space.
