The recent Kirkbymoorside Give or Take Day was reckoned to be the most popular yet. Precise figures of attendance aren’t kept, and there really isn’t any way of measuring the quantity of giving, but regular volunteers thought that more items, and more people, came though the door than ever before. Rather to everyone’s surprise, the supply of unwanted goods hasn’t dried up after a few years of the Give or Take, and it looks like being a feature of the Kirkby landscape for years to come.
If, that is, we continue to support it. In particular, the organisers would like to find a Van-Man (or should that be Van-Person in these politically correct times?). Organiser June Emmerson explains:
We are looking for a couple of kind, strong, public-spirited people, who have a van, trailer or pickup, to stand by on Give or Take Days and help with collection and delivery of items. This would involve 6.00 – 8.00 pm on the Saturday, and then 8.00 – 12.00 on the Sunday. Even just a couple of hours on each day would be helpful. Maybe share the job with some friends?
The Give or Take Days for 2018 will probably be in April and October as usual. Dates will be announced later.
If you would be willing to help please contact June Emerson: 01751 430907 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
Oh yes, the winner of the (wholly unofficial) Best Object competition at the last event went to Plant Pot Person.
