No less than three trips to a musical event are being arranged by the Pickering branch of the WEA in the near future. Why not take advantage of a coach with pick-ups right here in Kirkbymoorside and avoid struggling through the winter weather? And coaches also pick up only in Sinnington and Pickering, so you won’t spend the first hour on the bus touring local villages, as sometimes happens with coach trips.
There are two matinees, both beginning at 2.30:
“My Fair Lady”, Lerner and Loew’s classical musical, performed by the Birmingham Operatic Society, at York Grand Opera House, on Thursday 23 November. Coach leaves KMS at 10.55 am. £39.00. Bookings by October 18. Here’s a reminder of one of its great tunes, from the 1964 film:
“Swan Lake“, the greatest romantic ballet, performed by the Russian State Ballet of Siberia, at Hull New Theatre, on Thursday January 25. Coach leaves KMS at 10.25 am. £37.00. Bookings by December 10.
And one evening performance:
A concert by the Halle Orchestra, Sir Mark Elder conducting, at Leeds Town Hall on Saturday January 13, at 7.30 pm. The programme features:
- Delius – Paris
- Ravel – Piano Concerto in G (soloist Anna Tsybuleva)
- Bach (orch Elgar) – Fantasia and Fugue
- Elgar – Enigma Variations
Free pre-concert talk at 6.45pm by Mark Pallant.
Coach leaves KMS at 4.25 pm. £36.00. Bookings by December 1st.
All prices include transport from KMS and admission to the event. Non members of the WEA, who are most welcome, should add a £1.00 surcharge for each ticket.
Bookings may be made by sending a cheque, made out to ‘WEA theatre account’, with your telephone number, to G.O. Walker, 20 Millfield Close, Pickering, YO18 8DP.
